Reflection at sea




    As you sit on the sand and look towards the sea, what do you think of when you watch the relentless movement of the waves?

                                                                       *  *  *

    When I came across Lascaux drawings, I felt an intimate attraction. Simple lines, yet powerfully expressive. Not the least, the unique texture of the rocky surface adds a new level of aesthetics. For some reason I feel connected to those humans who made the drawings; could be just the plain desire to take a note of something, in a fugitive way...

    Looking at ocean's waves I imagine the old human marking their surface with drawings of the water creatures that they hunt. Because, as the waves are coming towards me, they carry all kinds of stories, the stories of the whole world. The water is full of stories...

    Of course it is impossible to draw on water; in the same way, it is impossible to walk on water as we are told Jesus did. However, I see Him in the same way I see the drawings on the waves. Walking on water...

  1. Prima impresie. Pesti desenati in pesteri si in pietre, ca o forma de recunoastere (crestinismul). A doua, fosile, un fel de lume pierduta si redescoperita.

    1. Love your insights. Stiam de desenele cu pesti ca simbol al crestinismului, dar nu m-am gandit la asta. Elaboram niste idei/lucrari mai vechi...

  2. Cum ar fi un tapet intr-o casa veche. Și așa transformi desenul și in instalație.
