Conversation with Desert 5
As Young Forest was meditating on the mechanisms of enduring relationships, and how love changes its forms through time, she felt compelled to ask Desert about his ties with Ocean, another giant whom she knew well. She saw their interesting interconnections, sometimes quite intimate, and the woman was rather curious:
"So, how do you get along with Ocean...? I see that you guys hold hands sometimes..."
"It's not easy to be side by side...We are different, but we need each other, and we learned to deal with our differences..."
"You did not mention love..."
"I was telling you about what's inside it... love is like a vessel...You find it at one point, somewhere... unassuming, precious... it comes in various shapes and sizes... like Greek pottery, you know... and you hold it, carry it, putting things inside... Its endurance depends of what you place there...
"Okaaaaaay....and your vessel...?"
"Our vessel has developed a bright patina of graceful wear through scorching sun and stormy seas..."
"I'll pay more attention..."
"Do you know Ocean?"
"Yes... I miss Ocean... Just his smell makes me run to his bosom and sit on his lap... and listen to his soothing voice...And he has this clique of lovely guys and gals that I am fond of all...Lake, Creek, River, Lagoon, Sea...and stay with them by the fire once in a while to debate about humanity...the crazy and most hidden stuff, you know..."
"He makes me cry many times... his sensitivity and artistic predilection...But I need these emotions to soften my inner substance, to not be so cranky and boring... Near him, my hair grows wild and green...You see, he gives me his color..."
"But you...what do you give him...?"
"I give him the sun...and my sturdy shoulders. He is so moody sometimes and gets depressed, and my sun brushes his cheeks. And he can crush on my shoulders...They are always there for him...
"Do you fight...?"
"Nah...not really...some arguments here and there...which are rather constructive...Not good to keep flames or torrents inside for the sake of... calm... Burst it out...You'll laugh after that, I'm telling you..."
"I will remember this next time I'll interact with humans... I know that too much silence may hide enemies..."
"Communication is rejuvenating and banish them away... although silence has its time..."
"Yes..."
Și totuși, exista un lucru comun între desertul de nisip și desertul de apa: setea! Atunci când se întâlnesc, iluzia e și mai mare.
